Knitting Skills
One of my daughters has decided she wants to learn to knit properly. She can do the basics but is keen to make more than just a scarf! I've spent time today helping her out and it has dragged out some long forgotten skills I haven't used in a while!
Fortunately I have a range of wool that I have bought cheaply at thrift shops and a wide choice of knitting needles, many also purchased second hand so we were able to find a pattern then find the right needles and some wool so she could have a go at making something - no money needed.
She has chosen to make a pair of fingerless gloves and she picked things up quickly having learnt the basics before. She's now already well on her way to making the gloves and has discovered how addictive knitting can be!
I am delighted to see her interest in this skill and can see how it will provide great entertainment for relatively low cost (as long as she keeps thrifting her wool as much as possible!). It is also a good feeling to share a skill with the next generation just like I had it shared with me.
