Road Trips

We got back on the road again today. My mother-in-law turns the grand age of 90 next week so we are celebrating with a family gathering this weekend. To get to where she lives is a 7 hour drive from home to us to get there so we did the first part today driving the 5 hour stretch to relatives where we are staying the night.

Our eldest daughter drove the first  part of the journey and it made a big difference to for me as the rest of the trip then felt like it went quite quickly. Although we have driven this road many times over the years it always looks different and we see different things. We had some great scenery to enjoy - changing all the time with the cloud formations and changing light at the end of the day.

I enjoyed having my family all together on a car trip again. We have done many over the years as a family but this is possibly the last one we'll all do together with the kids growing up and my husband's prognosis. A reminder to savour the journey and the special times spent making memories together.
