Free Samples

What do you do with the free samples of face cream you might get in a magazine or in a store or the mini bottles of shampoo and conditioner you partly use in a hotel? I can’t bear the thought of wastage so I collect these up and they end up in my toilet bag saving me having to take large bottles of shampoo or moisturiser away on a trip. When I go away on holiday the next time I then use these and I find myself enjoying the smell of something new or the feel of a new cream on my face that I don't usually have at home and it feels like a treat that is costing me nothing.

Now I don’t stay in hotels very often but when I have they have usually been for special occasions and what I find is the memory of going to those places ends up being evoked just by looking at the different little bottles I've got. Currently in my bag I have some from when my husband and I got a weekend in Sydney when he was there for a work event a while back. We had a fantastic time exploring a new city and felt very lucky to be able to do it. The others I got from the place we stayed on our wedding anniversary a few years ago and when I was using the moisturiser when we were recently on holiday I found my self thinking back to when I used it while we were away that weekend and it got me thinking about the lovely time we had and the place we stayed.

It got me thinking about how something so small can provide me with so many benefits which on the face of things may not seem like much but when it has me thinking about past memories and savouring them while I take that extra time to pamper myself (because I have more time to on holiday) then I think that makes those free samples and mini bottles very valuable indeed!
