Flower Power!

I love having fresh flowers in my house - actually to be truthful I love the idea of having fresh flowers in my house - however I never take the time to cut them and arrange them often enough. When I do take the time I really enjoy the processing of choosing some flowers, choosing a suitable vase, arranging them then finding the perfect place to display them.

Over the years I have had some wonderful flowers to enjoy as an indoor arrangement - some from my own garden, some from my mother's garden, some when I or my husband have received flowers as a gift.
I always have a slight sense of sadness that goes with these flowers - because I find the beauty in them so overwhelming sometimes yet I know they are transient and will die over time, their beauty fading.

My current garden does not have a wide range of cutting flowers but there are always things I can find to bring inside, even if it is just foliage. I just don't often get around to it so today I made the effort!
On a recent post on Instagram I saw a woman had cut back her marjoram in her garden and decided to put the flowers in a vase to enjoy. They looked so pretty!  I have plenty of this in my garden and I had never considered picking it for its flowers so I thought I would give it a try. I was able to pick a good bunch without even making a dent in my garden display. I chose my vase - this one was a thrift shop purchase for a dollar several months ago which I have never used. I arranged them then placed them on our hall table so I can enjoy them every time I walk past them.
What do you think? I think they look so pretty!
"New" flowers, "new" vase and new pleasure - all for no cost!
