The Kindness of Friends
I was so lucky to have a friend visit today who was so kind and bought me this beautiful bouquet of lilies. It was so unexpected and such a lovely gesture. I think they look stunning and smell divine and they have been giving me pleasure all day. I've put them in a vase I've had for a long time but haven't used in a while and set them on a table I have recently moved into our family room which now means I can put flowers in a place I never had before. I am loving the newness of it all!
She came to collect something I had for her and she stayed for a cup of tea. We sat and chatted for over an hour. It was so impromptu and I enjoyed myself immensely. We talked about a wide range of things and shared information that will be useful in our battle for my husband's health.
Making a connection with a friend was very healing in the midst of our current challenges. It made me grateful for the vast network of friends we have accumulated over the years who are there to support us when we need it. I only hope I can be the same sort of friend in return if needed - and I now know how flowers given for no reason other than just because really is a gesture that can mean so much and bring so much pleasure!
