My Repair Shop

How many things do you have lying around that are broken and probably only need a quick fix but requires a certain tool or a bit of time to have a think about how you could mend it? I have enjoyed watching The Repair Shop on TV and watching the craftsmanship of the people involved with repairing the most intricate and interesting items. Things that look beyond repair are brought back to life. My repair job is nowhere near that interesting but just as worthwhile taking some time to do...

I bought this necklace about 3 or 4 years ago and wore it only 2 or 3 times before I managed to break it while dancing at my husband's 50th birthday party. It has sat on the dresser in my wardrobe ever since - too broken to hang or put away, too pretty to throw away. It became physical and mental clutter in my house that I would see on a daily basis and shift around a bit and think about how I should really get it fixed but not actually going that next step to see what it needed or considering where I could take it to be fixed.

I finally found the time and patience to sit down and look at it and realised it would be something I could fix myself. I don't have any fancy tools so made do with a pair of tweezers and a very fine crotchet hook and with about half an hour of fiddling (and getting frustrated and determined it wasn't going to get the better of me) I managed to get it fixed!

How satisfying! Now it is hung up in my wardrobe and I have a "new" necklace to wear again - all for no cost and just some time to sit and do it!
