A Walk with Nature
Taking a walk in nature is a favourite thing to do and one that I don't do often enough. I had a walk to this waterfall on my list of places I wanted to visit so I informed my family that we were going to do this today. There was some of the usual grumbling from the teenagers but they came along and ended up enjoying it!
This beautiful waterfall is 41 metres high and took us just over an hour of some hard walking to get to it. The car park at the beginning of the walk is less than a 10 minute drive from our holiday home and within 5 minutes of starting we were in beautiful native bush. The walk took us up a gully with a formed track and some steepish climbs but it was well worth it as we arrived at the end to find this stunning oasis with the sound of the waterfall and the coolness which was most welcome on a hot summer day. Everyone had a turn at dipping their head under the water - some more than others! It was refreshing!
We are so lucky to have so many beautiful nature experiences within a relatively close distance to our home - mountains, rivers, bush, and beaches. We take them for granted sometimes yet, when we make to effort to visit, we are rewarded with a sense of awe and a realisation that nature just keeps on keeping on whether we are there to notice it or not.
Today the walk was so worth doing for the beauty of the native bush, the peace and quiet (if you ignored the occasional teenage grumble), the pretty dappled light, family time and the satisfaction of getting to the reward of the stunning falls at the end. All of this for free and yet all so valuable!
