Modern Medicine
Today was a very challenging day but one which had me very grateful for the era I live in and the country I am blessed to live in that has a funded public health service. My husband had brain surgery today in a new hospital block that looks amazing and is filled with clever people all working to provide us with good healthcare. It was a nerve-wracking time waiting while he was in theatre but he has come through it well and it has left me feeling very grateful.
It has got me thinking about the way in which this public service is funded by the government and I realised that the taxes we contribute each year to the government coffers (and often feel begrudging about) really do come back to us in so many ways. We often take this all for granted and forget that it does have to be paid for! This photo is a view from the new hospital block out over some of the many trees of our city - something beautiful to look at under a gorgeous blue sky. To be in a world class facility like this, paid for by the public purse and helping to prolong my husband's life, is something I will be forever grateful for.
