Home, Sweet Home!

After a 3 day holiday weekend here in New Zealand to celebrate Waitangi Day, where we got to go and enjoy time at our holiday house, it was so lovely to arrive home and feel pleased to be here again. Before we left for holiday I cleaned the house and had everything in order so that it would be nice to arrive home to.

We had a relaxing break which served as a good distraction from the stressors of my husband' pending doctor appointment. I really felt refreshed after getting time to read, eat good food, sit in the hot pools, go for walks, catch up with extended family who visited and get some jobs done in the garden - all with gorgeous summer weather. I could happily stayed in our little A-frame, where I feel so comfortable, but real life called and kids have to back at school tomorrow so home we came.

Home is often somewhere we forget to appreciate as we rush about in our daily lives. Home can be filled with chores and maintenance and the mundane parts of life so it is always good to come back to it after being away and seeing it with fresh eyes. It allows me to feel grateful for the refuge and comfort it provides in its familiarity.

Home can be big or small it just needs to have that sense of comfort and belonging - whether it be from the people you inhabit it with or the familiar things you have around you. When did you last look at your home with appreciation for what it provides? Does your home bring you comfort and joy? I hope so!
