I've never really been one to slavishly follow fashion and I generally tend to be a conservative dresser. I like to think I might dress classically but I don't think you could realistically label it as that. I am not very adventurous and love wearing jeans and a t-shirt when I can. I do love beautiful fabrics and can appreciate when a garment is well tailored but I've never spent large amounts of money on a single item of clothing.
This year, with my income cut, I am going to see how long I can go before feeling the need to buy any new clothing. I haven't bought anything since December so I guess that does mean I have had a no-spend on clothing year so far!
Today we were heading to a friend's for a casual BBQ lunch and while I showered I did wonder what I might choose to wear. I rummaged in my wardrobe and was delighted to find a summer dress I bought a couple of summers ago and have only worn a few times. I had forgotten I owned it as it was hanging near the back and as a result have not worn it at all this summer so putting it on today it felt like a new outfit and I didn't have to spend any money!
It has inspired me to be a bit more imaginative with the clothing I do have and try some different combinations and see what I can come up with. I know I have plenty of clothing so its just about looking at it in a new light rather than feeling I have to rush out and buy something new to get that same feeling.
What can you find in your wardrobe that will feel like new to you again if you got it out and wore it?
