Takeaway Tea (or Coffee...)
Today my husband and I had to take a short notice road trip to collect an important package from a chap we know. It was a 4 hour round trip into a beautiful part of the country that I hadn't been to in quite a while so we enjoyed the sense of adventure.
We drove up through an alpine pass and despite it being summer there was a cold southwesterly wind blowing and we got quite cool when we stopped to look at things. To be able to make a hot cup of tea in the middle of nowhere was so welcoming!
I have not been a big purchaser of takeaway drinks. I don't drink coffee and I am too frugal to pay money for a tea bag in hot water. I do wonder how much some people spend on takeaway drinks and how much that adds up to over time. I remember years ago getting a small payrise from a tax cut that amounted to about $25 per week at the time. I remember someone saying it would pay for coffees but as I didn't drink them my husband and I decided to increase our mortgage payments by $25 per week. It took about 4 years off the length of our mortgage term and I've never forgotten how that little amount of money made so much difference!
So that forgotten thermos that cost us around $30 when we bought it has proven its worth yet again and made me decide to store it closer to the front of the cupboard so we remember to take it again!
(The photo is taken at Castle Hill in the South Island of New Zealand where there are amazing limestone outcrops that look kind of magical. It is not far from where the battle scene in the Chronicles of Narnia was filmed and well worth a visit if you are ever passing that way...)
