A Cheap Night In
Being Friday night I often look forward to a cosy night at home winding down before the weekend. Being a homebody means that, although I like to go out sometimes, I more often prefer to stay home and find relaxing things to do.
Tonight was no exception and it meant I got to do things I love for little cost. I enjoyed a glass of red wine from a bottle in the pantry that we opened earlier in the week and I was able to sit and read a cheap book that I bought at the thrift shop that didn't involve any heavy thinking.
When you are able to get pleasure out of the simple things in life it is much easier to avoid unnecessary spending and can allow you to still have a feeling of gaining something without actually acquiring stuff. Too often we go out spending money and accumulating things to try and fill a void that we don't recognise is there because of other things lacking in our lives like gratitude for what we do have already and taking pleasure in the seemingly small things in our day.
I have developed an ability to get pleasure out of ordinary things as I have got older and if that makes me boring I don't really mind. It means I got to do the things that I enjoy doing and didn't have to feel guilty about consuming and acquiring with money I don't have.
What can you find to do on an evening in, that you already have at home and that gives you pleasure while costing nothing or very little? Go looking!
