Free Transport
Free transport - by this I mean walking! My husband and I did a fair bit of this today and it got us where we needed to go with the extra things enjoyed along the way. We have had friends offer us their spare cars while we are in the city but at this stage we are going to see how we manage without a car. When we were cash-strapped students many years ago we lived in another city without a car and managed to get ourselves around just fine so I know we can do this again.
Today that walking got us to the top of this dormant volcano (the crater of it is in the foreground of the photo). This gave us amazing views over towards the city and the harbour it sits in. It helped us get our bearings a bit more and it gave us fresh air and exercise. It allowed us to discover an amazing little independent bookshop we enjoyed browsing and a French café where we enjoyed a very well priced lunch. We didn't have to worry about the hassle of finding and paying for a carpark and we could easily turn down whatever street took our fancy.
We left there and walked around to the hospital for my husbands appointment in the afternoon and then headed past the supermarket to buy groceries for our meals for the next few days before heading home.
It was a great way to explore and spend the day getting a feel for the area near to where we are staying and now it has given us a satisfied feeling of tiredness. And it cost us nothing! I think we will both sleep well tonight ready for our next adventures tomorrow!
