Weizen Beer

 After a busy days work cleaning my kitchen I really felt like I needed a drink (is that bad??). I had not tonic for my gin, no still white wine in to chill and no red wine to open and quaff. I did find one of my husbands beers in the fridge and decided to try it.

It was a large bottle of weizen (wheat) beer. Opening it and having my first taste took me back to our overseas trip nearly 22 years ago when we discovered weizen beer while in Belgium. We went to a specialty beer bar and had a great time (in part helped along by the 8 and 9% alcohol/volume beers!). We really enjoyed trying different ones and the weizen beer was one of our favourites.

I'm not usually a beer drinker as my first choice but this went down really well and conjured up some great memories at the same time. It was good to try something different and felt like a real treat and being a large bottle I actually got to enjoy 2 drinks from it. The bonus was I found it in the fridge waiting for me and didn't have to drive anywhere to get it!
