One Peg at a Time...
I am so over plastic pegs breaking and leaving bits of plastic everywhere. I have always tried to but good quality pegs that claim to be UV resistant but I don't think they are as they seem to last a much shorted time than they should I think.
Growing up in the 70's my mum had wooden pegs and I remember her getting her first plastic pegs - in a school fundraiser I think - and they seemed such a novelty. As I grew older I didn't like to wooden pegs as they had to be pushed hard onto the line and could rip clothing. They also occasionally left a stain which is not ideal.
I have been fussy about the pegs I've bought over the years but I've now had enough so I decided I'd buy stainless steel pegs which are more expensive but will hopefully save me money in the long term. It was $12.00 for 20 or $25.00 for 50. Harder to buy at that price when the plastic pegs are sitting below at $4.00 for 50. I splurged however and feel so pleased I did. I see it as a long term investment for my wallet, as I am certain I will pay less money overall, and also for the environment as there will be less plastic bits to sit in landfill.
I also love that there are no bawdy colours to clash with my washing!
