Under the Stars
My middle child has her school formal tonight for her final year at high school and she has been on the organising committee. They have booked the local "Transitional Cathedral" - an A-frame structure built from large cardboard tubes that serves as the Anglican Cathedral for our city after the real one was badly damaged in a series of earthquakes. To continue to raise funds it is hired out as a function venue when not being used for worship and it was magical!
My daughter was in charge of the lighting. Some was to be provided by the DJ but as the theme was "Under the Stars" she decided to buy fairy lights and string them up to create a ceiling in the front of the vast room where the tables were to be placed. She bought strings of solar lights that we have had charging for the last 3 days and today we spent a couple of hours stringing them up which took some teamwork but worked perfectly - I was anxious it might not go as she was hoping!
Going back to visit after dark we got the full effect of the lighting and her fairy lights ended up looking just as she wanted. For a limited budget I think they make the space look fabulous and quite professional and at the end they have a whole lot of fairy lights they own that can be used for something else! It shows that for a bit of effort and imagination much can be achieved for not much expenditure.
What do you think?
