The Tree of Life
We got up early and headed to the airport and arrived in the city that neither of us know very well ready for the next 2 weeks of treatment my husband is to undergo. We are being provided accommodation by the Cancer Society but couldn't check in to our room so they kindly stored our baggage and we headed across to the large Domain across the road to ty and find the amazing tree we glimpsed when we were in the city a while ago.
It was so lovely to have to time and freedom to just wander and it really did feel like we were on holiday and being tourists again - even though we haven't actually left our own country. This city feels so different to what we are used to. Just the location of it means the temperatures are warmer and with it being slightly more subtropical there is a lot more lush growth of plants than we see at home.
We found this tree and marvelled at the form and beauty of it. It is a quiet reminder of the cleverness of Mother Nature and somewhere calming and grounding for us to visit while we are here if we need to. We have a sense of hope that this treatment may buy some time in our battle against this challenging disease however we are also quietly reminded that out time on earth is a relatively short one and this tree will go on living past many of us and providing a sense of wonder and beauty for many generations to come.
I'm sure we'll stop by here again...
