Pass It On!
I finally had a session today clearing through some things the kids no longer want or use and sorting them ready to donate them to charity. I always like to make sure things are clean and not broken before I hand them on. I like thinking some other children might get pleasure from these unwanted items and that their parents will feel pleased with a bargain purchase they have made.
I must admit I have procrastinated about doing this job as the years don't seem so long sometimes and I can still recall buying many of these items and it doesn't feel that long ago yet I know my children have had their pleasure and moved past these items and it is time for them to go. I have to stop sentimentality from allowing me to let these items go. I know that when I do take them out of the house I move past them quickly but it is the decision making that is the most challenging thing.
Having cleared through some stuff today I have lightened the load just a bit. It has created new space for me to use more efficiently and in a new way. It will also allow these things to become new items for someone else to enjoy. I hope the little girl who gets those pink cushions for her bedroom thinks they make her room look nice the way my little girl used to!
