Travel Savings

The wedding we attended yesterday was in another part of the country so involved some travel to get there and accommodation was required. Now I love to travel but I also like to do it in the most cost effective manner we can. I like to save money in some areas so we can spend that money on experiences in the place we go to. Because this trip involved plane travel and a night away for my husband and myself it could have been expensive however we did manage to book the flights quite early on and got them for a really good price. 

Our accommodation I booked through Air BnB and we got a lovely little place in a stunning location in the bush high on a hill with views over the sea. And best of all it was a great price - much cheaper than staying in a hotel and much more personable.

One place I hate wasting money is on airport parking while we are away. Because we left early on Saturday morning and got back later on Sunday evening it meant if we had booked long term parking we would have had to pay for 2 full days and it would have cost us around $50. Now that is a sum of money that I can put to use elsewhere. 

By being organised and up early enough we were able to drive ourselves to the airport and find a park for free on a street nearby. It was then a 15 minute walk to the airport so saved us a taxi fare or airport parking and got us some early morning exercise for nothing! That's a win-win I think.
