Autumn is my favourite season with her of the glorious colours that Mother Nature puts on to show off. Today I got to enjoy why.
We spent some time at the hot pools and the park adjacent to this is full of a large number of exotic deciduous trees. The carpet of leaves under some of those trees was beautiful and I enjoyed trying to capture them in photographs with the sunlight making tree shaped shadows across the ground.
The different colours of the leaves that had randomly fallen looked artfully placed - I don't think human hands could have done it any better. The crunch of the leaves as you walk through them and the ancient earthy smell that emanates from them rounds out the sensory experience.
I always feel a bit sad knowing that once the autumn passes all of these leaves will go, back into the earth to perpetuate the cycle of growth, knowing that is one less autumn I will see in my lifetime. Having photographs is one way I can continue to get pleasure from the sight. I can continue marvel at the way Nature has a knack of being able to dress herself so beautifully. She seems to get it perfect every time she does it!
