Low Carb Healthy Fat
I have decided to try and streamline our eating habits and see what this type of plan does to our waist lines. My husband and I are both in that dreaded "middle age" and there is some spread starting... I have been reading about the importance of cutting down on carbs and increasing healthy fats for a while and we have made some switches but after growing up right in the midst of the era of high fat being touted as bad and lots of carbs being encouraged it is actually challenging to switch our thinkig around - especially my husband who loves carbohydrates and ate them a lot when younger without any effect on his weight.
I found this book in the stash I had and thought I would give it a go. It will be interesting to see what the family thinks as the children all like carbohydrate snacks - something I feel partially responsible for as that is what we were conditioned to supply as parents based on the now outdated food pyramid.
I shopped today and came in $20.00 under budget for the week. We thought we'd start with breakfast which is usually cereal and toast. We'll stick with the breakfast changes for a couple of weeks and see how we cope then plan further from there. I am happy that I can still include some complex carbs in our diet but I will change proportions and see how it goes. I will also look at adding in some foods we've never really tried before like chia seeds.
New foods might mean a new figure! I'll keep you posted!
