Homemade Yoghurt
For years I've had a recipe book containing a recipe for homemade yoghurt (written by the Destitute Gourmet here in NZ). I have always thought it would be interesting to try and make yoghurt and see it I can save some money in the process as I eat it most days - and with the low carb health fat regime we are trying I am eating a bit more.
I generally use a yoghurt maker for our yoghurt as it is slightly cheaper and avoids all of thosep lastic containers that fill our recycle bin. I thought by making my own yoghurt from a homemade yoghurt sachet as a starter it might reduce the plastic from the yoghurt mixes also.
The process was fairly straightforward and didn't take too long. I have put the mixture into my yoghurt maker to act as the incubator and on checking it this evening it seems to be starting to work. I am excited to see if I get a good supply of yoghurt and if it works I will try to continue to do this as often as time allows. I'll keep you posted!
