 My eldest daughter has been wanting to have French lessons for quite a while so today she decided to get herself going with the help of the internet, books of mine and her mother's brain that learnt French for 4 years at high school over 30 years ago.

It has entertained her for much of the day for no cost at all and dragged some long forgotten things from the depths of my memory. I realised how lucky this generation is to have access to the vast data base that the internet is and the ability to watch videos of people pronouncing a language correctly - and all for no cost. It got me thinking about all of the other things you can teach yourself via the internet if you really put your mind to it and who knows whether one of those acquired skills may lead to a small money earner that can help with debt repayment or saving towards something special.

She had a good days entertainment for no cost and I was transported back to high school French class. Who knows - maybe if she sticks with it I might get some benefit too!
