Slippers and Snow Showers
With New Zealand being a country with a mainly temperate climate we don't usually get snow down to sea level in winter but it can happen. Usually the snow is on the mountain ranges and sometimes down onto the foothills. When it does occasionally snow to sea level it creates great excitement for a day or two then it is just a nuisance and usually melts away quickly.
Today we had wild and windy weather that sent some snow showers our way which provided a bit of excitement. It didn't settle though. The wind was straight from the South Pole and although it was bitterly cold I was amazed at how well my washing dried in the thin winter sun when it came out. The southerly wind is good for that and saved me needing to use the clothes dryer.
The cold weather also reminded me how much I really needed new slippers as my old favourites really were dying with the sole coming away from the back of one of them. So it was off to the shops and I was pleased to find the exact same slippers to replace my old ones. They are made from real sheepskin so are warm and toasty and if they last me at least 5 years like the last pair then they are an excellent price per wear. Happy!
