Loven' my Oven!

A numver of years ago my sister told me how she paid someone to come and clean her oven. I remember thinking at the time that it was a bit extravagant - the DIYer in me knew I could do it my self and save that money for something else. However of all the housework jobs cleaning the oven is my least favourite and over time I got to thinking maybe my sister was on to something.

Cleaning the oven was always something I put off until it was really bad and I hated the look of it. Then I'd spend ages cleaning it, using toxic chemicals that made me feel ill and stink the house out (I tried natural oven cleaners but they didn't work very well). I always ended up dissatisfied as the perfectionist in me wanted it to look like new again and it never did. To top it off the chemical smell seemed to take ages to disappear despite rinsing and wiping over and over.

Several years ago I discovered an oven cleaning service that uses boiing water and no chemicals to clean your oven and for $130.00 my oven comes out looking new every time. I get it done every 12-18 months to keep it looking good and best of all you can cook in it straight away as there is no chemical smell.
I don't think of this money as being an extravagance any more - this is a 13 year old oven and after getting it cleaned today it feels like new all over again. And best of all I was able to go off and do other things while someone else cleaned it for me in a fraction of the time it would have taken me. So worth it!
