Midweek Minibreak

Being in the midst of a COVID pandemic with the our country's borders closed to most of the world our tourism industry is not getting the international tourists we normally have. This is usually a big money earner for our economy so there are people in this industry who are doing it hard.

As a result there are special deals being offered to locals to encourage them to travel locally and spend some money and do it while the place isn't crowded with tourists from overseas. The perfect time to travel I think! It seems New Zealanders are taking the opportunity to travel in our own country and the deals to be had are being taken up.

We've chosen to take up on an opprtunity to travel with friends on a mid week minibreak to a part of the country we haven't been to in nearly 20 years. We thought it would be a nice thing to do before my husband starts on his next round of cancer treatment. I am excited to see new things and play being tourist. Who needs to travel overseas?
Our first night on this trip is free to us as we have decided to head to our holiday house so we can start out early tomorrow and travel a round loop seeing a little town I've never been too which is gaining in popularity - especially fuelled by the gin distillery in town!
I am excited for the adventure and a cost effective 3 day break. Come along for the ride!
