Art Inspiration
Cities have some wonderful places to see. Visiting our city art gallery is something I always love to do yet I don't do it often enough. For no cost we can wander the rooms at our leisure and marvel at some of the beautiful creations (and wonder at the thinking behind some of the strange ones!)
I am often torn as there are some pieces I really don't like and there are pieces I would happily take home and look at everyday forever. The beauty of some pieces can make me almost want to weep as the artist has managed to use colour or capture a feeling that I want to hold onto but I know will be only transient for me for the time I stand in front of it.
"The beauty kept slipping through her fingers...wasn't this amazing? Look, you had to say to yourself, Look." The Red House - Mark Haddon
When was the last time you visited your local public art gallery? I'm sure many of you live in cities with much larger galleries and far more famous paintings than I do. Places we would rush to see if we were tourists in your city. It is easy to be complacent and always think these works will be there indefinitely and we can always visit them another day. I say go! See these places and have a few hours entertainment for nothing but come away richer for the experience!
