The Anatomy of a Guitar

I have had a very pleasant evening listening to my daughter teaching herself to play the guitar (with the help of the internet) while I sat and crocheted then read. It was so good to listen to as she picked things up quickly.

The guitar she is using we got for nothing many years ago. A colleague of my husband's was throwing it out because it was broken - the neck was separated from the body. My husband brought it home. glued it and waited to see what happened. Surprisingly it worked beautifully and that gluing has held all these years. Because it cost us nothing we haven't had to feel too precious about it and I have been happy to let the kids pick it up and muck around with it over the years, hoping someone might show an interest in learning - my husband can play having taught himself as a teenager.

I have loved hearing the sounds my daughter is now making with it and her persistence at learning how to do it. "New" music to listen to from an old instrument - I must say it has been sublime...
