Friday Night Football
My son's weekly football matches this year are on a Friday nights on a turf pitch after many years of spending Saturday mornings standing beside a foot ball field watching him and our daughters play footy. Now we get to sit in the grandstand with blankets on out knees and and cushions on the hard cold seats. This is luxury after the years of standing on an often muddy sideline!
This week is his second match at this time and I must say it feels a bit like going to a ticketed match but for no cost for us (if you don't count his football fees that we pay each year but which is included in our budget...)
It is good to be viewing football in a different way as these boys are growing up and playing a higher level of football so the turf and the lights seem fitting. It also means we can now have a sleep in on a Saturday morning and take it at our own pace so a win win all round!
P.S. I do have a confession to make as we did stop for unplanned takeaways on the way home tonight so there was a cost this week that we won't have every week. I will need to get more organised and make sure we have some food and drink with us next time to avoid the post match hunger trap!
