Socks Galore

I've spent the evening sitting crocheting and wondering what I might find that has been new to me today and I realised it was staring right at me. My socks!

My eldest daughter needed to clear some drawer space when she moved back home and she had a pile of clothing she no longer wanted. We sorted them into piles of donation and fabric recycling. Among these piles were a whole lot of pairs of socks that she said were too small for her. All perfectly good socks, hardly worn.
Lucky for me my feet are smaller than hers and they fit me just fine so I have scored a pile of "new" socks (and a new t-shirt that she has only worn once!) Now socks are something I would never buy second hand but when it is your own daughter who is the only one who has worn them I am quite happy to continue to give these socks life. With the weather turning cooler my usual bare foot attire needs an extra layer and it is so good to be able to slip something on to keep my feet covered.

Don't you love it when you can score new clothes from your kids? Not an event that would happen often I don't think. I will need to keep an eye on things next time she is discarding clothing...
