Time for Dessert!

Lockdown continues with dreary weather outside. I guess it is winter so to be expected and with the new month coming up spring is officially on the doorstep. With the weather not being great and nowhere to go it is the perfect day to spend indoors with the fire going.

It was also the perfect weather to roast a chicken that had been taking up space in the freezer for a while. We followed that with apple and blackcurrant crumble that I made a double batch of last night using up nearly a whole bag frozen black currants we have had in the freezer for far too long. (Grown ourselves on our very well producing blackcurrant bushes planted several years ago).

Having a dessert pre-prepared the day before made it all that much sweeter and it was delicious paired with a creamy vanilla ice-cream. It filled our tummies well and made everyone contented. The perfect comfort food in times of challenge!
